Foley, AL is a beautiful place to live. The master gardeners in this area do a fabulous job keeping our downtown looking gorgeous throughout the year. July is a hot and humid month in the southeast but with all the water on the ground and in the air it provides great growing conditions for all types of flora. I walked around downtown one Saturday morning about 6 a.m. I was able to photograph the flowerbeds along Highway 59 before the traffic to and from the beach got too heavy. The park at the center of town is always a good bet for pretty subjects and my all-time favorite place in Foley is the walking path through the middle of town. Roses of all varieties bloom 10 months out of the year. There are other pretty flowers along the walking path but my favories are always the roses. Add water to any flower or plant and it is a bonus in my book! I was fortunate to come along right after the sprinklers watered the ornamental grasses in the park. I love the water droplets all along the feathery heads. If you look closely you can see that the individual drops act as mirrors and reflect their neighbors. I was using my Canon 50mm lens (the nifty 50) with three diopter filters to get the magnification and soft backgrounds. It is easy to see which shots were taken with the diopter filters and which were taken with just the 50mm lens. That is a good combination for walking: very little equipment and a good range of capability.
