It was a gorgeous spring day in southwest Alabama. The skies were bright blue, not a cloud in sight and the air was warm and fragrant with the perfume of spring. As I do most days in weather like that, I set off on foot with my camera and telephoto lens.
There is a pond full of cypress trees about a half mile from our house. Now that I've got enough zoom power I'm finding all kinds of good photographs. The turtles were out sunning on logs and the blossoms were blowing in the breeze. A curious squirrel came down one of the trees nearby and I was lucky again: I was able to focus and get off a couple of shots before he ran back up the tree. I think that single turtle on the log has a smile on his face!
