We have had a light winter here in Foley until the last few days. The weather was unusually warm for several weeks and spring was just beginning to break out all over.
I used my 100mm-400mm zoom as well as the 70mm-200mm zoom with an extension tube for the photographs in this album. I was literally laying in the ditches for some of these shots. The citizens of Foley have gotten used to seeing me out taking pictures in odd positions and places but I'm sure quite a few people wonder what in the world I'm up to! I am always happy to see the wild violets spring up among the brown leaves on the ground. They are so tiny but perfect. The mushroom is one I've not seen before. I was out scouting the ditches and just happened upon it under some branches and leaves. Getting a good vantage point for shooting it was difficult and I was in quite a contorted position by the time I was satisfied with my results. The beautiful poppies were found in downtown Fairhope, AL. Foley and Fairhope both do outstanding work beautifying their parks and street corners.
